THE KIM AND HAROLD LOUIE FAMILY FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES 2010 LOUIE SCHOLARS 25 outstanding students receive scholarships totaling $100,000 BURLINGAME, CA (PRWEB) August 13, 2010 —The Kim and Harold Louie Family Foundation announced today that it has granted scholarships totaling $100,000 to 25 outstanding high school seniors throughout the United States.  This year, the Foundation received a record number of applications from high school seniors all over the United States.  Applicants included valedictorians, student leaders, athletes, recent immigrants, and children of United States veterans, many of whom will be the first in their families to attend college.  Choosing scholarship recipients this year was very difficult, and made more so because of the increased demonstrated needs attributable primarily to the economic and financial hardships currently facing many Americans. “We believe each of our 2010 Louie Scholars represents someone who has demonstrated great potential to continue to make a significant impact in their communities and the world at large.  As in past years, our 2010 Louie Scholars come from both genders and diverse backgrounds and economic circumstances, and hail from all over the country,” said Betty B. Innovative Long Beach Program to Help Paralyzed Veterans Secure Good Jobs and Careers in a Tough Economy LONG BEACH, CA— With the national unemployment rate for veterans with severe disabilities at 85 percent, a unique Long Beach program aims to make a difference, helping those who wore the uniform and were seriously injured, get good jobs and careers in a tough economy. Officially opening on December 2, the Long Beach Paralyzed Veterans of America Vocational Rehabilitation Office will empower veterans with disabilities with the services and tools they need to reintegrate into the job market—while matching them with businesses and organizations with career positions. The Kim and Harold Louie Family Foundation Announces 2007 Louie Scholars 31 Outstanding Students Receive Scholarships Totaling $100,000 The Kim and Harold Louie Family Foundation, a private, family foundation based in Burlingame, CA, announced today that it has awarded a total of $100,000 to 31 outstanding high school seniors and college students nationwide. The 2007 Louie Scholars were chosen for their demonstrated leadership, scholastic achievement, involvement in their respective communities, financial need and their ability to overcome adversity. The 2007 Louie Scholars come from diverse racial backgrounds, economic circumstances, gender and geography. THE KIM AND HAROLD LOUIE FAMILY FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES 2009 LOUIE SCHOLARS 32 outstanding students receive scholarships totaling $100,000 BURLINGAME, CA (PRWEB) May 21, 2009 —The Kim and Harold Louie Family Foundation announced today that it has granted scholarships totaling $100,000 to 32 outstanding high school seniors and college students throughout the United States. This year, the Foundation received a record number of applications, more than twice the number from the previous year. The Foundation granted scholarship awards to less than 9% of the applicants.
