demonstrated leadership, scholastic achievement, involvement in their respective communities, financial need and
their ability to overcome adversity.

“We were thrilled with the high caliber of students who applied for scholarships this year,” said Ms. Louie. “The
selection process was difficult. We received many applications for scholarships this year and found it extremely
difficult to choose the winners from the many well-qualified applicants.”

THE KIM AND HAROLD LOUIE FAMILY FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES 2009 LOUIE SCHOLARS 32 outstanding students receive scholarships totaling $100,000 BURLINGAME, CA (PRWEB) May 21, 2009 —The Kim and Harold Louie Family Foundation announced today that it has granted scholarships totaling $100,000 to 32 outstanding high school seniors and college students throughout the United States. This year, the Foundation received a record number of applications, more than twice the number from the previous year. The Foundation granted scholarship awards to less than 9% of the applicants. Applicants included valedictorians, student leaders, recent immigrants, many of whom will be the first in their families to attend college, and others who have overcome great adversity. Choosing scholarship recipients this year was obviously difficult, and made more so because of the increased demonstrated needs attributable primarily to the economic and financial hardships currently facing many Americans. “We believe each of our 2009 Louie Scholars represents someone who has demonstrated great potential to make a significant impact in the lives of others or in their chosen fields of study. We are also proud that our 2009 Louie Scholars come from both genders and diverse racial backgrounds and economic circumstances, and hail from all over the country,” [...]
